On Thursday, July 13,
2006 the Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus and Congressional
Internet Caucus, in conjunction with the Internet Caucus
Advisory Committee and the E9-1-1 Institute, co-hosted the
Summer 2006 Technology Fair on Capitol Hill to display the latest in
emergency communications technology. The purpose of the Technology
Fair is to showcase the technological advances that are changing
emergency communications.
This was the first event
co-hosted by these technology-oriented organizations. The E91-1
Institute not only wants to thank the Internet Caucus Advisory
Committee for their work on the event but also for the participants
their organization brought to the event.
E9-1-1 Institute
Executive Director Gregory L. Rohde said, “Both the E9-1-1 Caucus and
the Congressional Internet Caucus recognize that technology is
revolutionizing emergency response. With the arrival of VoIP (Voice
over Internet Protocol) and the emergence of Next Generation 9-1-1,
our organizations share common interests.”
The Technology Fair
drew13 sponsors and participants and over 225 attendees. A special

Annual Technology Fair
October 27, 2005 - 2nd Annual Technology Fair
On Thursday, October 27th,
the E9-1-1 Institute along with the offices of
Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT), Senator Hillary Rodham
Clinton (D-NY), Representative Anna Eshoo (D-CA)
and Representative John Shimkus (R-IL) hosted the 2nd
Annual Technology Fair on Capitol Hill which displayed the
latest in emergency communications technology.
The
E9-1-1 Institute Technology Fair provided a preview of some of the new
technologies that make E9-1-1 and emergency communications possible,
including some of the new technologies developed to enable Voice
over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services to deliver E9-1-1.
Demonstrations were highlighted at the reception, with a special media
preview prior to the reception.
