IP Issues Committee (IPIC)

 

The Internet Protocol Issues Committee (IPIC) supports the goals of the
E9-1-1 Institute by identifying and vetting key issues that impact E9-1-1.  Working groups focus on specific issues including policy, operations and technology.

 

The committee assists in preparing educational materials & conducting events, educates and informs, and provides an information clearinghouse
for Congressional members, staff and all stakeholders.  The IP Issues Committee is open to all E9-1-1 Institute members.

The
Mission of the Internet Protocol Issues Committee (IPIC) is to:

  • Create a dialogue among a broad range of stakeholders, including public safety, industry (providers, vendors, and technology
    innovators), academics and consumers to examine the challenge
    and benefits of IP-based services for the Nation's E9-1-1 system.
     

  • Develop consensus on recommendations for policy makers to
    ensure a successful implementation of E9-1-1 access
    requirements on VoIP systems; and
     

  • Identify areas of opportunity for future IP-Based applications
    and make recommendations to the E9-1-1 Institute on how
    the E9-1-1 Institute and its members can help to advance some
    of the opportunities to improve the E9-1-1 system.

The Scope of Work for the IPIC is focused on the broad policy issues
and serve as a clearinghouse for information on the many areas of
activity related to IP-based services and 9-1-1 and E9-1-1. The IPIC
does not intend to duplicate efforts that occurring between the
stakeholders, simply enhance the information that is available and
educate the Congressional members, staff, E9-1-1 Institute members
and stakeholders.
