   E9-1-1 Institute - Annual Awards Ceremony


   The E9-1-1 Institute is sponsoring an annual awards ceremony where
   heroes and leaders in the 911 field will be honored jointly by the Institute
   and the Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus in February, 2004.

Nomination Form and Instructions

Instructions:

1.  Nomination forms are due no later than Friday, January 16th 2004.

2.  These awards will honor individuals or groups of individuals who have shown dedication
      and leadership that relates to the mission of the E9-1-1 Institute, which: 

  • Serves as an information clearinghouse on E9-1-1 and emergency communications issues and distributes timely, relevant information to Members of Congress, Administration officials, federal, state, and local public safety officials, and the general public;
     
  • Creates a forum for policy discussions related to E9-1-1 and emergency communications that will benefit public policy development; and
  • Assists members of the Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus in promoting public education on E9-1-1 issues.

3.  Actions that are eligible are actions that took place during calendar year 2003.

4.  In addition to this form, you are welcome to submit additional information, such as:

  • Press coverage
     
  • More detailed materials
     
  • Other relevant information

*The Committee may consider additional information but the nomination form will be the primary information source.  Please keep in mind that quality is more important than quantity.

  To highlight a great survival story.  This award would honor a person or persons whose life was saved or protected as well as the 911 calltaker(s) and /or dispatcher(s) who played an extraordinary, lifesaving role.  The survival story should not only highlight the necessity of the 911 system, but also draw attention to extraordinary circumstances and extraordinary heroism and dedication.

To honor an individual(s) who has shown extraordinary leadership in advancing 9-1-1 on a regional or national level.  This award is intended to recognize a person or persons whose name is synonymous with 911, who not only consistently meets, but exceeds requirements and expectations of their employer and their peers.

To honor a reporter, media outlet, or entertainment program that has helped to educate the public or present a positive message on 9-1-1 issues.
