   E9-1-1 Institute - 3rd Annual Awards Ceremony

   The E9-1-1 Institute is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Awards Ceremony where
   heroes and leaders in the 911 field will be honored jointly by the Institute
   and the Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus on March 8, 2006.

Nomination Form and Instructions

Instructions:

1. Nomination forms are due no later than Tuesday, January 31, 2006.

2. These awards will honor individuals or groups of individuals who have shown dedication
and leadership that relates to the mission of the E9-1-1 Institute, which:

Serves as an information clearinghouse on E9-1-1 and emergency communications issues and distributes timely, relevant information to Members of Congress, Administration officials, federal, state, and local public safety officials, and the general public;
Creates a forum for policy discussions related to E9-1-1 and emergency communications that will benefit public policy development; and
Assists members of the Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus in promoting public education on E9-1-1 issues.

3. Actions that are eligible are actions that took place during calendar year 2005.

Citizen In Action Award 9-1-1 Call Taker/ Dispatcher Award First Responder Award Government Leader Award (Federal) Government Leader Award (State/Local) Industry Professional Award Media/Entertainment Award Outstanding 9-1-1 Program	The Citizen in Action award honors someone who demonstrated Exceptional Bravery and Heroism to save a life in a critical time use 9-1-1. This award honors the "First First Responders" - the 9-1-1 Call-Takers and Dispatchers who are on the front line everyday. Candidates for this honor should have a proven track record of service in the field and a reputation for going the extra mile on behalf of emergency callers. The First Responder Award recognizes the individuals that 9-1-1 people call - e.g. *Law Enforcement, Fire-Rescue* and/or Emergency Medical Providers --for their professionalism, initiative, creativity or diligence in assisting a person reporting and/or experiencing an emergency situation. This award recognizes the Federal Government Leader that has done the most to advance the capabilities of 9-1-1 emergency communications. This award recognizes the State or Local Government Leader that has done the most to advance the capabilities of 9-1-1 emergency communications. The Industry Professional Award honors an individual or organization in the commercial sector that has demonstrated exceptional contributions toward the advancement of emergency 9-1-1 communications. This award recognizes the Media or Entertainment individual or organization that has done the most to improve public understanding and support for E9-1-1 emergency communications. This award recognizes a *Regional 9*-1-1 Programs, Individual Call Centers and PSAPs for their excellence in handling emergency situations reported to 9-1-1, for the manner in which it exemplifies the 9-1-1 profession or for the manner by which it utilizes technology in conjunction with 9-1-1.
